Question can you run two radar detectors in the same car?

Sens the Beltronics STI mangnum has total shield is it ok to run the Escort 8500 X50 in the same car?

that is a good way to do it and mounting them horizontally away a bit doesn't hurt either.

You won't have any problem running a magnum if it is a stealth detector as I believe it is with two antenna inside

fact is there are even some non-stealth detectors that work well together

Right now I am running a Bell 995 and a Cobra Vedetta that play very well together indeed.

They compliment each other very nicely

I can tell you this from my experience running two detectors together separating them a bit apart horizontally has some definite benefits.

It appears that very often these radar signals, depending on terrain features, can hit different parts of your windshield in narrow focused spots

running two with a bit of spacing takes advantage of this effect

This advice is just plain bad. It is without any merit, is based solely on your opinion, and goes against everything that most veteran testers have determined.

To the OP, this is a great article on why not to run two detectors together. Radar Detector Tests and Reviews by Guys of LIDAR

Hardly, a lot of people run two detectors together especially with a stealth non-emissions models and are very successful doing it. I once believe this wasn't possible but not anymore.

I am very surprised you don't know this actually. Old GOL reports..? No wonder they disbanded.

People that do this a regular basis will argue with you on that one I can tell you !

Ka 34.7 if your worried about this just don't do it.

But I have never heard of people that run well behaving detectors together giving their set ups up because they saw any problems doing it whatsoever.

I think a lot of this got started by Mike Valentine myself and he is partially right with extremely leaky detectors

    But >

But he also said that the MPH POP radar wasn't accurate whatsoever !

in all the tests on it in pop mode it's very accurate indeed.

the best advice i can say is try it out for yourself for a while and see what you think.

just wanted to add this bit to the mix. I tested my set-up beforehand with a 35.5 source and a K-band radar and there was no difference in reception running the two together. They alerted just as fast as before and the very same way.

Yes you can, however there is a risk of "leakage" from one detector causing the other one to alert. Unless you are using an Escort or Beltronics model (Which I see you were asking about an 8500 X50 & a STi Magnum) that's going to happen. Cheap detectors will set off Escort & Beltronics detectors, unless they have the RDR (Radar Detector Rejection) ability in their firmware. Not to be negative or anything, just stating a fact, Cobra radar detectors are notorious for causing other detectors to alert.

If you are going to run (2) detectors at once, try to space them apart as far as you can.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to run to higher end detectors in the same car?
