    Default X50

Well I would hope that they would come out with a unit that could defeat the Spectre, and add the Ku band to it

Don't expect a new unit quite yet.

Any info about Ku-band radars? Is there any other reason for Ku-band than to make the current RDs obsolete?
The frequency is between X and K, so it is difficult to see any real benefits in it. Maybe the band plan of some countries makes it attractive?

so u think that many police forces will have a ku band also? if so how fast do u think radar manufactures can get the detectors with the ku band on the market? and if the poilce know that the radar manufactures will have this what is the point of police spending money on this band if people can just slow down and aviod it.

    Default Ku band

Well sometimes it appears that it is a cat and mouse game between the companies that make traffic enforcement equipment for the police and the counter measure industry.

The point is once this gun comes out, over 90% of the radar detectors out there perhaps will not be able to detect it. The radar detector companies will then start making the detectors with the new band

But the main point here, is to look at getting a detector that already has this band (bel rx65) or a detector that can be upgraded (escort 8500)

    Default Difference

Escort and Beltronics are the same company and the RX65 and the X50 are basically the same detector with the following exceptions

The Escort is available in red display for $299.95 or blue display for $339.95. The reason for the price difference in the blue display is that the gases used to make the blue cost considerably more then the red

The RX65 has voice, what we feel is a better tech mode (display of technical information such as voltage received at the radar detector) and Ku band.

Ku band was authorized for use within the USA several years ago, however not used by any police radar gun manufacture. This will all change in 2005 as one company has developed a new gun for this band and it will be sold to police departments throughout the USA around June of 2004.

The Escortís can be upgraded to this new band once it is offered; however the RX65 already has it installed.

The Escort has a slanted display window that is designed to give a better view to the driver when placed in the middle of the windshield.

The Beltronics RX65 has a straight forward facing display and is slightly smaller in length then the Escort

As far as performance, they are all identical
