    Default Failed to detect Laser

What would cause a failure to detect a laser hit? I have a Bel RX65 and just got popped by a motorcycle LEO that was lying in ambush. I have seen him there before and I noticed that my RD has never alerted even though he seemed to be pointing a device at cars. I (wrongly) assumed he wasn't actually activating the device. I have my RX65 set in Highway mode and the only bands I have enabled are Ka & Laser. I'm perplexed why this particular LEO seems to be invisible to the RD?

If the leo shooting laser is very very close to you targeting a headlight or your License plate the beam is very narrow and won't strike your rd.

where do you have it mounted? Lower for laser is better. Higher for radar.

Failure= forgot to remember that you saw the Leo there before. Where is the brain and eyes? Which is more important than the RD. LOL....The 2 wheelers with hand units are deadly with lidar or radar! Fear them more that anything else!....Assume= Ass-u-me....Remember, a RD is not a Cop detector but a built in lidar ticket indicator (sometimes) and a possible I/O ticket indicator (your filtered Rd is too slow for the Leo has time for a tracking record on you before you can brake)!....Also remember, the Rd is not a free pass to speed so get back on the whipped horse and use the speeding rules of do's and don'ts that you should know and obey. Let this experience be a lesson learned by all. Best wishes on your ticket, you might luck up and win if you follow the rules!......

I believe the RX65 can not detect the new "Truspeed" laser???? I had that concern with my 8500. NJ started using this new type of laser. I know a lot of detector owners say Laser detecting is "useless", but I have picked up scatter several times which saved my butt. It does work...

You may want to check in "Truspeed" is used in your area. I think it's 905 Nm in stead of 904 Nm? Anyway, I just bought a V1 which will detect this...I like it thus far.

10-4. Did I read some where that the TS III can be detected sometimes by certain RDs on the other forum? But the V1 will miss Dala for sure? The Redline has the V1 beat on the number of lidar guns.......... Question? How can one determine if lidar is scatter or the main beam when there is no strength indicator? No way! It all depends on if one has a shaking Leo! Where he aims! Your excess speed amount! And some luck! Agree, a RD lidar detection is not 100% useless but I will not bet on a not so smart Leo and a RD to save me! To many tickets and a non-alarming RD threads....LOL.....

My STi-R has never alerted to LASER with the exception of when I had it mounted on the outside of my vehicle near the license plate. Unfortunately it was too low to the ground and mount broke off so now the antenna is temporarily riding on the dashboard until I decide to remount it outside again. My Blinders have been out of commission (new HP-905's are on order thank god) but I did get a lidar ticket back in July and now alert from the STi-R with it mounted low on the dash. You really shouldn't be relying on a detector for lidar anyhow, jammers are the only thing that offer real protection, only thing lidar detection does is alert you before you get pulled over or if you're lucky and actually going the speed limit, you now know where a trap is to REMEMBER for the future. Other then that unless you're going to mount antenna on the outside with a remote detector like STi-R/9500ci etc. you shouldn't be relying on it for lidar and if lidar is a threat go with Jammers.

How much does it cost? Do you really think any ordinary citizen has got the dough to spend it on such extremely expensive electronics?

Never been, never will, an ELITIST, my man. Especially nowadays when it's so hard to put food on the table for your family and yourself.

In USA, until 2-3 years ago pretty much ALL major truck stops, TA, Pilot, Flying J, etc. were carrying tons of Beltronics and Escort products including STI Driver and Escort RedLine, now? maybe 1-2 Escort/Beltronics RDs, the least expensive ones, no RD over $300, obviously no more STI and RedLine, why? ppl have no money for such pretty expensive products! But they sell tons of Cobras, why? cause they are cheap. Never seen any Laser Jammers sold in ANY major truck stop or national electronic retailers like Best Buy. Why? 99.99% of the ppl have no money for such expensive products, taking care of your family is way more important than buying a damn expensive RD or LJ.

When you advise somebody to buy a pretty expensive product W/O mentioning the cost of the product, that's called ELITISM.

That's all I had to say.
