Exclamation What happened to all the activity on this forum?

I've been a long time member here at RD.net and I took a break for about a year.. I come back and noticed that so many posts are months old and hardly any recent topics are popping up. I'm also noticing a whole lot of veteran members have been banned.

Did I miss something that went on here a while ago? I just don't see the activity like there used to be.

I'm still around but in my case I've been in "seclusion" for 4+ years now, see my thread with the STI Driver in the Beltronics section, my very first participation since 2009. My very first account (see my signature) still have the bloody marks of the Nov 2008 Presidential Election LOL

Pretty interesting times when Roy was running the whole show, 2005-2009, but since he sold the website and the new "experts" have redesigned it, one by one all the original members have slowly abandoned the ship, or maybe we the "originals" have nothing more to learn or contribute from/to this very forum.

Personally I'm concentrated on YT videos, way more fun than this forum. Obviously no YT when this forum was extremely hot, 2005-2009, that's why we had so much going in those years.

    My YT Channel:

BELTRONICS STI DRIVER VS POLICE LASER/RADAR - YouTube

I do miss the old guys, Prof Jim, Staton, all GOL guys, Jerry, SmartAssSaab, also that guy from Miami forgot his user name (the one with Yoda in his avatar), etc., personally I feel like a dinosaur on today's forum active members.

    Be safe out there.

Haha, I find that funny . Of course there's always new someone can learn on here. No one can ever learn it all! :P That's why we are a community! New products and updates are always in progress.

I remember seeing: StlouisX50, Stealth Jamal, Surf Daddy, and some of the guys you mentioned too.

One would hope it picks back up. I personally don't know of any good RD forums with all this type of info we share here.

I actually had no idea he sold the website. I guess that makes sense now.

    Where you've been?

About Radar Roy Reyer | Search Engine Academy SW

"In 2007, after years of never being able to pass “Radar Roy,” one of his competitors purchased his empire for millions more than Roy requested. It was one of the best business moves Netshops, Inc. ever made".

    His official YT Channel:

    Radar Roy - YouTube

Bought my STI Driver directly from him, Sept 2006, when he was still owning and running Radar Busters website, excellent service I might add.

Radar Detectors, Laser Jammers & Radar Detecting Accessories at RadarBusters.com

Personally I'm interested in real life experiences ONLY, have no interest in scientific laboratory explanations as in band segmentation or other academic stuff, also personally despise rich elitist snobs showing everybody they have the dough for some very expensive stuff like LI jammers.

The major difference btwn this forum before 2009 and nowadays: a constant and permanent exchange of posts per each thread, one post was getting tons of replies, pro or against of course, that's why I enjoyed those good times before 2009. In other words this forum used to be full of ACTIVE users, IMO each thread, regardless the section, must have at least 5 active users participating into that particular thread. When you go for sections and threads, look for number of replies per thread and you'll see what I'm talking about. No active users and no replies = this forum is boring like hell.

    Be safe out there.

I don't know how I missed when Radar Roy sold the company. After reading that article on him, I'm very impressed with his accomplishments.

You're absolutely right about the differences between before 2009 and now. I really do hope the life comes back into this place. I do love how knowledgeable people are here.

If you quickly take a look at the RD sections of this forum, Beltronics, Escort, V1, Whistler, Cobra, etc., and go for Moderators you'll see no actual Moderator for Beltronics section, Stealth Stalker passed away couple of years ago, GOD Rest Him in Peace, that shows clearly Beltronics products have lost interest for those that run this forum (that's why I've tried to revive that section with my own recent thread), and for Escort and other RD sections you will see EscortRadar and/or Laser Interceptor USA as moderators, these are the manufacturers and/or authorized dealers for those particular products, of course they are gonna bring very bias opinions into the forum, before 2009 ALL Moderators and Administrators were NOT affiliated with any manufacturer and/or authorized dealer AT ALL and that's what made this forum so great, right? But after Roy sold the website, this forum is pretty much controlled by Escort Inc and Laser Interceptor USA instead of us, the consumer, as it used to be before 2009, and obviously you're not gonna see too many (if any) dissenting (or contrarian like mine) voices allowed in the forum. They have the power to delete your post and ban you when you start stirring up the (very politically correct) pot.

Also, when today pretty much everything it's on video, not having a section dedicated exclusively to videos showing how your RD and/or LJ has responded to a real and live police radar/laser encounter, it's really mind boggling to me, it shows clearly this forum has lost its own initial purpose: by the consumer, for the consumer, ABOUT the consumer, with no interference/control from/by the manufacturer and/or authorized dealers.

Sorry for my Politically INcorrect rant.

    Be safe out there.

All of the above, plus, no mentioning certain brands or saying anything bad about certain brands. And no buying, trading or selling or used products. On top of that there was the banning for whatever reason. So some left and started another group.
When Roy sold out it went to hell. LOL< I will probably get gone for saying this.

    Sheesh, it's that uptight now?

That's too bad. I always thought buying/selling/trading was great to have on a forum. Oh well...

To me things started to fall apart when GOL lost it's momentum. Then when Roy sold the site things took another hit. I don't think much has changed in terms of opportunity to learn, rather the excitement for the technology and the loss of some of the foundation.

Maybe the slow down of the economy hurt things as people might not be spending on their hobby and other tech gizmos. I personal stopped buying and sold a lot of my radar detectors. Although, I recently upgraded my V1 to the latest version and purchased the Connect for the V1. There is still some cool stuff out there and the game keeps evolving just not with the same level of excitement we experienced over the past few years.
