I have spent hours researching and reading on the V1. I cant say I have been disappointed with my 8500 x50 not to mention I got the X50 for $125! It has saved me a few time in the short year I have had it. I live in the northwest Subs of Chicago. My X50 has been pretty good once I made the necessary adjustments to it such as turning on SpecDisplay and disabling "X" (which I am not certain is a smart thing to do or not in IL). I really like seeing the Band Freq. on the X50 for I know what is a false or not. I am not sure if those are the best setting, I would like to know what you guys think for this X50. If the V1 works out might be re-purposed to the wife or sold if she doesnt want it. It is in perfect condition. Quick question...is there a software update for the X50..if so what is the current one and how do I check what version I have on mine?
But what brought me to buy the V1 was all the favorable reviews, performance. and considerably better laser. Range doesnt mean much in the burbs for the traffic is too tight for them to nab us for speeding until we are close enough to determine which car is speeding...and my X50 give me plenty of distance for that. Falsies would be annoying if the V1 is as touchy as everyone says. But I dont know if some of the setting on it help to keep it from going off all the time from audi, Banks, walgreens and so on!! The V1 is a lot more than my X50 so I am expecting big things!! Let me know what setting I should use on the V1. When I get it, I will put them side by side and see what they can do.
The only really detailed review/test of all these was posted on radardetectorforum.org in 2012. They did more of a real world test where I found the X50 did very good in many categories and held its own if not beat out the V1. I dont believe however they did a laser test.
Let me know what you guys think. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks
