    Default See...told ya!

Somewhere on this forum (can't find it now) I, a noob, had admonished all on here to be cognizant of a real world facet of RD equipment ownership: Security.

I had pompously preached about stowing your equipment when not in use. Bully for me. Ain't I just the guru of security. Right.

I took today off of work. Ask me why.

"Well", you might venture, "do tell. Why, oh why did you take today off from work, CR?"

To install security cameras aimed at my dad-burned DRIVEWAY in hopes of catching the ne'er-do-wells that cribbed my Garmin Zumo 350LM GPS out of my car Thursday night.

It was roaming kids, no doubt, and there ain't anything easier to get into than a convertible. I don't lock it, they'll just slit the roof, so I ALWAYS stow my stuff.

Nope, didn't get my spankin' new Escort Passport which was safely secured, but the Garmin...I had left it in the console and had simply forgotten about it. I didn't follow my own counsel.

But if I HAD left the RD attached to the windshield...or put it on the seat...man...insult to injury, considering the hubris I had employed preaching on here.

Anyway...c'mon back ya little snot-nosed parental disaster misanthropes...and SMILE, 'cuz yer on Candid Camera!

    Ride safe,

Thanks to all for the condolences, but I only have myself to blame.

Can't blame scorpions for acting like scorpions, can't blame thieves for thieving...it's what they do, it's their dadburn JAY OH BEE!

But I can blame myself for putting myself in the position to be victimized. I had a choice. I chose wrong.

    Won't happen again.

You never know who it is until you catch em. We had stuff go missing from cars in our neighborhood for months (stupid folks not locking their car doors). My next door neighbor ended up catching the thief--some 70-something chinese guy who didn't speak enough English to order a big mac. The cops were called and he had pockt full of the cell phones, gps units, sunglasses, cords, wires, and tons of change.

Okay, first...yeah, my assumption that it was kids is certainly "age-ist".

It's far more likely that it was a band of wandering geriatric Asians.

    HAR!

And about that "(stupid folks not locking their car doors)"...ummm...okay...I would not SWEAR under oath that I locked that car.

In fact...I did NOT lock that car. I INTENTIONALLY did not lock the car, because it's a convertible, and one does not lock a convertible. Doing so results in a sliced top, adding insult to injury.

One STOWS their stuff with a convertible. Which I thought I had. But hadn't. Because I'm OLD, and I FERGIT STUFF, and DAMMIT, I've a VETERAN! 'N' a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE! 'N' a REPUBLICAN! 'N' I shouldn't have to DEAL with this CRAPPOLA!

*Gasp* ...my pills...where are my pills...

Damn wandering Chinee folk...oughta be a law...

    Ride safe,

    CR
