    YES !
Many new cars today have radar & laser systems installed to prevent collisons/accidents. These cause a lot of false alerts to the older RDs from yesterday like your STi R+ you have. There are much newer RDs made today that have built-in "filters" to help eliminate all the false signals coming from other cars & trucks.

Unidens all have AMAZING filters. V1's with TMF2, or junk k-band fighter, do Very well as well. Escorts newer detectors, and a few older ones. Max, max2, max360, IX, All have decent filtering. However escort's filtering is not as good as the v1 or unidens.

Radenso also makes a good RD, with good filtering. Netradar is a newcomer if you are looking for a remote installed unit. The netradar uses Uniden's platform, so it has the same filtering.

Currently uniden, then V1 with TMF2 are the top dogs when it comes to filtering. I no longer own a v1, but I own several unidens. And when the unidens alert, it's something to immediately be alert to, I generally slow right away until I know. I also own a max, however when it alerts to K band, I rarely slow, I usually consider it a false until I notice otherwise.
