Default Another need help choosing thread...

Hey guys, just wondering if some of you guys/girls can help me choose a detector for my specific needs.

I'm looking to purchase a new detector for my work vehicle. I'm not looking to spend more than $600 for one. I have both Android and iPhone so either accompanying apps will work. I'm tech savvy I guess you would say so I wouldn't mind programming but don't really want to. My work truck has a metal bed camper/cover on it so from what I've read I don't think I'll be able to pick up radar from behind my vehicle without some custom installation. I have a 200 mile drive from Nevada to Cali twice each week, this route goes through interstates, highways and has flat lands and mountains too. I drive at least 3 hours a day throughout interstates, highways, rural areas and big city areas. My main concern are the highways and mountain areas in Cali. Throughout the city I don't really speed or do anything I'm not supposed to. Any help would be appreciated!

Here's what I'm leaning towards, in descending order, from what I've read and watched:

    #1. Escort Redline
    #2. Beltronics Magnum
    #3. Radenso Pro SE
    #4. Valentine V1
    #5. Escort Max 360

    Hello. Welcome!

In so far as your list, my personal recommendations would be:

At this point I would stay away from Beltronics, it's lifespan may be in question at this point.

The Redline is a fine piece, but is no longer at the top of my list because of its somewhat limited filtering abilities, which I regard now as the most important aspect of detector performance today.

The Radenso Pro SE feels a little raw at the moment and its performance is not entirely consistent across all radar bands, plus laser is subpar.

The V1 is a great unit (my technical favorite), but requires the external bluetooth connector and custom programming to extract the maximum performance from it.

The Max 360 is a good detector, but the V1 is more refined, at this point.

The one detector that you didn't mention is the new Radenso XP. Other than X-band which isn't its strong suit, this detector provides exceptional performance on K and Ka bands and laser is respectable. It's got built-in GPS and a photo enforcement database. It also has what I have found without question, the very best K-band filtering out there and it doesn't require any external components to program it.

Which ever what you go, please consider supporting RadarBusters.

Good luck and again welcome to the forum.

    VG

Out of curiosity, whats going on with Beltronics? Don't mean to hijack your thread here. Is it not BelScort anymore? It does seem like all the new stuff comes from Escort.

Just my 2 cents, but I had a Bel STi Driver then a V1 from 2014. The V1 needs to be updated with filtering (every GM Vehicle drives it insane), but the range is very good. Considering a second for my second car.
