Is it resting on your windshield? There are 2 'notches' ...little bumps of plastic that stick up from the smooth case of the detector that should rest slighlty upon the glass when it is level...you can bend the bracket if needed to accomplish this (bend slightly dont break!!)
The X50 is a rather long... and solid detector, so it is known to 'bonce around'... but when resting on my windshield it sits pretty well.
well the top part of the detector is resting on the windshield slighty. Is it the black piece that you bend to make it sit more level?
Yeah, you can bend that little black piece that hangs off the suction cups... Bend it DO NOT break it, otherwise your really SOL.
I'll make the assumption that the X-50 & RX-65 RD's have a mount that attaches to the windshield in a similar manner. The angle of windshields will vary (I have an Accord Coupe) but here's what I did to remedy the rattling with my RX-65 .........
Between potholes & frost-heaved expansion joints, the constant rattling was driving me nuts.
I tried the fuzz pads included with the RD but they lasted about two weeks before the plastic corners of the RX-65 wore through them.
All you need is a third suction cup, in fact you should have two extra suction cups in the original box. If not, any craft store will have them.
The third suction cup doesn't "stick" to anything, simply wedge it upside down (suction cup facing the bracket/detector) slightly below the two existing suction cups & it'll provide the "bumper buffer" that eliminates the noise while keeping the RD level.
Roads in WNY are still bad with potholes but the rattles are gone.
okay, Ill try that. My x50 didnt come with any extra suction cups but ill go by an extra one. thanks for the help
good luck with that. I'd post a pic if I could but the explanation should provide a visual that's easy to understand.
I lean my up against the rear view mirror. Just enough. stable as can be, freaks me out when it bounces all around, it can not be good for the antenna/horn trying to catch wind of a radio frequency. It just works out perfect in my case.
get better suspension!
my suspension is fine.. do you put it above or below the rear view mirror??
