He is lying.
so do any of the big insurance companies do this? if i get a detector i dont want to be stuck with the bill of a multi-million dollar wreck i may cause...
It's BS.
There use to be a myth floating around that insurance would even give you a discount, I dont know how that started but my insurance company asked me and I said hell no, they asked me again, and I still said hell no. If ever asked DO NOT TELL THEM SQUAT. Just like if you got a ticket but had the court dismiss it, DO NOT TELL THEM because there is no way they can find out unless someone tells them.
Insurance company can not go around after a wreck and revoke the insurance or do anything for that matter. The courts would rip the insurance company a new one.
My insurance agent has an Escort Solo 2 in her car.
If you have Geico and you adment to having a detector
they will not cover you.
Can they legally deny coverage even though radar detectors are legal ? To me there is no difference to not covering red cars or any customized vehicle (air freshener...etc)...?! What happens if you are in an accident and they find a radar detector ? To me it sounds unrealistic but you never know....Any lawyers around ??
If someone drinks and drives and ends up killing someone... insurance still has to pay out!Originally Posted by Force5
So can the insurance company screen for drivers that say.... drink alcohol... sure they can, but you do not have to tell them, because fact be, you do not have a beer in your hand, what stupid thing you do after the fact is a different story, but insurance still has to pay, they can not deny.

This was just dicussed in the radar forum on yahoo. I still feel that the insurance company NEEDS TO KEEP THEIR HANDS OUT OF WHETHER WE USE RADAR DETECTOR'S OR NOT. THIS IS "NONE" OF THEIR BUSINESS. Just go ahead and use one regardless and if you have to stop at your agent's office for some reason, pull down the rd. When leaving, put it back up. Mk
