    Default RX65 city, V1 highway?

I have been hearing this lately from MANY people on this forum. If you drive a lot in the city, get the x50 / RX65. If you drive on the highway buy the V1.

Using this statement, the V1 outshines the rest. Why? I'll tell you.

City driving. maximum posted speeds are 30mph-45mph. Are you going to be driving 60-70mph in the CITY when the posted limit is 30-45mph? Any radar detector is useless in the city. You dont NEED a radar detector in the city. If the posted limit is 30, i drive 35 or so.. if the posted limit is 40, i drive 45 or so. If you are driving 50 in a 30mph, you deserve to get a ticket because you might kill some kid in the street.

The MAJORITY of speeding tickets are issued on the highways. If the general consensus is that the V1 whoops all others in highway protection, wouldnt you want to be using a detector that protects against a threat in the arena that issues the most tickets??

This is why the valentine sucks!

I agree with you 90% but it is obious you don't live in ohio.

There are small cities here in ohio like Woodmere, Northfield, etc... which will issue tickets for the most minor of speed infractions. I've had friends get tickets in Woodmere, OH for going 27 in a 25. These are not safety enforcement officers, but rather revenue generators.

Unfortunate but true. At least in ohio, travel within cities, even when driving "safely" can be quite hazardous.

Another example?: Northfield ohio... 4-lane rd goes from 35 to 25. Cops always sit right at the sign to nail people who have not slowed in time. Again, its nice to have an RD in such a case... especially if you aren't a local.

    Default city

I use "L" on my V-1 POP2 90% of the time. It does an excellent job in the city...as well as on the highway.

Yes, we all know you love the v1 and believe it to be next to God, but we don't need to hear it every week. Just because it is the most sensitive does NOT mean its the best. It depends on you're driving style. If you want a detector that is constantly going off in the city, then you're going to waste $400. As for not speeding in the city, what about the places that are spread out like mine? It is not like driving through down town new york, it is a very spread out area. Once again, its the driving style that you have.

Up here in Ontario, the Cities, like Toronto write a lot of speeding tickets.
I've found you have a greater chance of getting nailed in the suburban area's than rural.
I've travelled for miles on the "highways" without seeing a cop or getting an alert. In the "Cities" they're everywhere.

I would suspect it's not much different in the USA.

You only need to buy one detector to use in both the city and on the highway. My advice on what to buy?

Buy what you like and like what you buy and use the hell out of it!

Were you refering to my post? If so....

I do love my V-1...but I don't have a boner about it unlike some others on this board who like their Escort, or BEL, or Blinder, etc. But hey, if you love your unit and want to praise it, why not?

The person before me had made a statement about city driving with RD's and I just gave my honest opinion with my experience with my V-1. Frankly, I just do not get all the false alarms like some people say. Call me lucky, eh?
