A posting from Mariton just got me thinking.
If most French cars have Athermic windscreens (All Citroen, Renault and Peugeot made after 2001) as per one of my other posts, what's the point of having an in-car detector as the detection range is greatly reduced on K-Band speed traps like the Mesta 208, 210, mobile cerva, etc.
Most of the "radares fixes" are also K band radar (from sagem) so a good RD will detect in advance from the rear, but I understand why GPS is popular for fixed cameras becuase you have the same inductive loop / piezo strip issue as we have in the UK. But surely you still need jammers for the laser guns and radar detectors for all the mobile radar.
So what RD's work in France through these windscreens? that's got to be an issue?
And what kind of range do you expect to get from an in car detector in France from them if you have them inside a Citroen, Renault, Peugeot, etc.?
Spectre is used but VG2 isn't and you even have about 10 multanova guns now!
What the French story for Speed traps?
