I'm trying to further disguise my remote mount RD (Whistler 3450), which I have mounted in my dash where my clock used to be. It is a pretty stealthy spot, but the problem is that it still "looks" like a radar detector. It has a bright blue model number painted on the front. Also, the LED "blocks" are very visible (even when off) and looks like a classic detector. I'm trying to make it look like (or as close as possible to) something that is factory installed, like the clock.
What would be a good paint to paint over the model number and button labels (I have automotive primer that is a good match for my interior - would this work on plastic)? Also, I was thinking of using a spray-on window tint to paint the cover over the LEDs - something like VHT's nite shade:
Would this work?
