i went to Nc for a week and traveled from Durham to jacksonville, to visit a friend.
here are my observations, Nc people cant drive worth S**T left lane hogs nomatter what speed you have to pass them in the right lane. sorry had to get that out
rolling to Durham down 40 i think to jacksonville got a lot of k and x falses at bridges. airport i got 35.5 never saw the sorce. one state trooper no radar of laser.
on the way back saw more encounters , 1st what 35.5, then some 33.8, all confirmed , then a couple of cobras, next i got at least 3to 4 miles of a k band speed sign, again no troopers which we few down I40 , more x and k falses same bridges , which must been drones, on the way back counted 7 or 8 local leos and sheriffs, some running radar some not
i guess thats it no tickets in NC with the STI....
no laser on the trip

Your K band falses are not uncommon at all. On I40 and 440 they have K band transmitters mounted on the poles. Rumor has it that these are there specifically to piss off RD users with no other meaning.

I also went to durham in the middle of june with my X50 so I turned all bands on with the exception of POP. I encountered alot of random K band alerts and some random X alerts. But everytime it was going off X and K bands I never seen a LEO in the oppostie lane or in front/behind me. At first I thought I was picking up some I/O but I never seen any LEOs with their radar on except for a cupple using 35.5 Ka and 34.7 Ka.
Then when I was just getting back to SC I see this cop coming passed a curve I slow down and then when he gets 100 feet in front of me I get I/O'd by K band. No laser either just like you, but my X50 was mounted pretty high and sucks with laser encounters from the few laser encounters that I've had.
I looked in north carolina and found this: Dummies: On I-95 and I-40 there are many. I-95, x175, x145, x127. x93, and X193 in SC (I think this one is an alarm on K band). Those are just a few.
NCSHP: X, Ka (Golden Eagle), also using X-band K-55s as drones in construction sites

Not a rumor--its a fact. Things are mounted on bridges on I-95 as well.

Actually the K-band alerts you are getting along I-40 / I-95 are part of a traffic system designed to relay traffic information to NCDOT and media outlets that utilize all the CCTV cameras especially if you are in and around Raleigh. If you are in the Raleigh area turn on the traffic report on WRAL and these K-band sources are feeding the traffic folks information on current traffic conditions and drive times. If you pull over next to one of these sources, it's interesting to see that they activate only about every 5-10 seconds to gather their information. One second you will have a full k-band alert, the next it's gone....5-10 seonds later it happens all over again.
The X-band alerts you are getting I'm betting occur around a lot of interchanges. These are actually detecting traffic sitting at trafffic signals up on the overpasses. Normally, inductive loops are saw cut into the asphalt pavement and detect traffic which in turn tells the controller cabinet to change the signal phase. On overpasses, which are normally concrete bridge decks, the loops aren't cut into the reinforced concrete so these pole mounted detectors do the job of the normal inductive loops to control the traffic signal.
Yeah they are a major pain in the a$$, but they do serve a purpose. Hope some of this info helps.
