Wow, nice info! It being legal in Texas, I figured it was elsewhere. But from the very beginning of that nonsense, I personally questioned the legality of it, constitutionally speaking. Because you're not really pulling someone over for a violation. You cannot tell if they have violated anything or not from the lane next to them. And not seeing a shoulder strap is pretty flimsy "probably cause" to believe a crime has been committed, especially a class C misdemeanor. So really, you're just pulling them over to conduct a search, for which you have no probable cause. I can definitely see why states have outlawed that.
AS *MUCH* as I agree with that, the courts have always ruled there's no need for probable cause for a traffic stop, just a REASONABLE SUSPICION. One case in California pulled over a guy for 'no front plate' when he had one, and during the stop warrants came up and they jailed him and searched his car incident to arrest and found drugs and all kinds of stuff. Court upheld it because there was 'reasonable suspicion' he didn't have a front plate because the officer didn't see one when the car turned and it was mounted all the way on the passenger side or something. I think it's rather ridiculous, but that is the current state we live in. So if you don't SEE the belt it's a "reasonable suspicion" and "legal" (courtwise, not constitutionally IMO) to pull over. Of course if no warrants come up during the call and the violation wasn't observed they'ed have to let you go.

Under Indiana law, you can be pulled over just for not wearing a seatbelt. However, the use of seatbelt checkpoints was outlawed when the seatbelt law was recently expanded to include trucks and SUVs. Commercial truck drivers have been pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt. How does one define a checkpoint? Well that's another story.........
At least we don't require front plates here.

Oh and I guess it's a godo thing my windows were down...they're pretty dark with the tint I got on them...not sure what it is, I wanna say 20% or 30%? At least then he wouldn't have seen the seatbelt thing...probably woulda got a tint ticket though. Just take your pick in Ohio!
Although the arsenal of Ohio State Highway Patrol runs the gamut (including use of X-band), I've seen the PL-III in their hands more than a handful of times since 1998.
To be absolutely honest, it's my locals' switch-over to various LIDAR devices that prompted me to upgrade, when my ZR3s finally suffered weathersealing (and then c-box) failure.

I just checked the GOL 2007 jammer test, if he was using a PL III then it makes sense...pretty much all had JTG in the test. I don't have a front plate either...
