Raleigh, NC - RALEIGH, NC (WMBF) – The "No Need 2 Speed" campaign, a joint force by the Governor's Highway Safety Program and the NC State Highway Patrol kicks off Monday.

The campaign, aimed at catching speeders on NC highways, will run Nov. 15 through Nov. 28.

Local law enforcement agencies will join state troopers to conduct patrols and enforcement to catch speeders, focusing on interstates and major four-lane highways across NC.

"North Carolina law enforcement will be cracking down on speeders who recklessly endanger our citizen," GHSP director David Weinstein said. "We lost 472 people last year due to speed-related crashes. I urge drivers to slow down and obey the speed limit."

During the "No Need 2 Speed" campaign in April, 15,789 motorists were cited for speeding.

Dangerous driving can be reported to the Highway Patrol by dialing *HP on cell phones from anywhere in NC. For more information, visit www.ncdot.org/programs/GHSP.
