i am stuck between investing in a handheld police scanner or a handheld CB radio. i am looking at handhelds because i have a sports car and dont want a whip antenna on the trunk, nor do i want a mini antenna because i'd like to transport my scanner/CB

which would be best to detect police - (i know handheld scanners do not pick up digital so that sorta narrows it down) -

**please also do not say "oh get a real scanner because, with personal preference and cost, that option is not available**

A handheld CB will give you crap for range without an external antenna.

So although a CB will save you from WAY more traps than a scanner ever will, if you must go handheld I would have to recommend a scanner, at least you'll have some entertainent.

if i were to get an antenna, can i get an internal one that is miniature? would installation be easy?

also note that i would not like the interior of the car to look like a truck-cab

get a magnetic mount for the cb or there is a kit to splice into the radio antenna for the scanner.

It's just splitter, so it doesn't cut anything and you can remove it w/o any problems.

where can i find a splitter kit?

Radio Shack should have it, but I can't see it on their site.

I have one, so I know they exist!

There is one on Ebay that has a filter on it for AU.
