    Default A good Digital Scanner?

What is a good digital scanner that I can buy to listen in on truckers and police offocers to hear them give warning on speedtraps? What is the best one? This will be the last piece to make me as fool proof as possible for speedtraps How about the Uniden BCT8?

I heard the Uniden Bear Cat models are the best. Can't remember what the latest model is now, but the newest ones have a feature that detects the repeater signal on the state patrol cars. You can just choose the state you are in and it has all the channels and frequencies pre-programmed. I personally think they are only good for detecting the repeaters and block all the chatter out. Maybe if you could get your hands on the special channels used for aircraft VASCAR and that could be useful if you have Vascar courses on the highways in your area.

I've thought about it, but haven't decided yet. If I do get one I would probably be the slowest car on the road slowing down everytime it goes off, so then it would be pointless to have any countermeasure devices if I won't be speeding. Although, I want to look into the return policy on the store that sells them and maybe just try one out to see how it works.

On my first day of using it going to work it has worked GREAT. In fact I am Ebaying away by BCT8 since this fits my needs MUCH better. One example was today as I was driving I got an alert first 1-2, 3-4 and heard the Ohio State Trooper radio his headquarteers telling them that there was a car in the ditch and he was going down there. Then I got a 5-6 warning and there he was pulled over going after the truck. I LOVE IT. Sniffed out every state trooper today (3 of them)

That is too cool. I am going to get one ASAP to add to my arsenal.

The trooper in the states I drive are too damned diligent. They are HIGHLY selective in targeting vehicles they estimate as "really' speeding. SO they rarely pull the trigger. I assume they do this so they don't tip off RD users. Occasionally I'll get a K or Ka beep and have a few seconds to get down.

But usually I'm the guy they see as the "OBVIOUS" speeder. I'm the guy they target first. Fortunately for me they are rarely stationary or hiding. They are usually moving toward me in the oncoming lane. And fortunately my visual acuity is still sharp enough to distinguish and ID HP cars about 1/2 to a 1/4 mile out giving me just enough time to slow down. But gawd it is a lot of work constantly scanning a mile or so down the road.

My RD does give me a heads-up usually but sometimes it's too close. I hate sweating bullets.

Thanks for the info on the BCT12

No problem. ID Troopers sure do sound like Ohio State Troopers. They are very sneaky and only pull the radar trigger when they absolutely only have to.
