How common is the 700mhz band being used in the U.S? I don't have a scanner presently that is able to pick up the 700mhz band. How many others on here have a scanner that can pick up this bandwidth?

I don't think it has gone into use yet but only a few scanners can handle
Spoiler: show
it's in use most newer systems are 700 mghz digital
a few 700mghz systems I know off hand are in Michigan, Missouri, Texas , Arizona, and here in Tennessee as part of the new statewide digital project...
Not used all over but any new systems that are upgraded or newly built will likely be 700 mghz for public safety..
So will this make my Pro-96 unusable? Or just in time?
Hello,
Digital 700 / 800 systems are starting to pop up everywhere. The Illinois State Police is leaving their old 42/44 mhz low band radio system and should be up and running over the entire state by spring 2008. (plus all the old DOT and DNR units going over also.
see this url for some infor:

I'll look for more, they are trying to 'sell' the system to everyone. Yearly Rental for ALL radios..first was $100 a year..now down to like $50 but for EVERY portable and radio your department uses. Think I'd stay on VHF high.
Take care,
Spin

Try to find an AOR-1000 scanner used. It covers pretty much dark to light including 700MHz and it is not blocked anywhere.
Yea great scanner, but no trunking by itself...Originally Posted by spyder2000
