Can you pick up most local cops with your scanner and highway patrol? It might be a worthwhile investment for me if so. I was always worried about buying a scanner because of everyone going digital with encryption.

I have great reception where I live. I can hear 3 (!) local PDs and the Highway Patrol that patrols the Tollway that is less than a mile from my home.

You are in Austin and they are on Digital. You would be better off getting a digital scanner.
