Back in the day pre 1998 you could scan the 46. and 49.
Mhz bands. Then in 98 phones went 900 mhz which some freqs
in this range could be scanned and listened to. After this
the industry started getting complaints about privacy issues
because of News agency's reporting on how your average
store bought scanner could be used to eavesdrop on peoples
conversation. Phone manufactures then came out with
900mhz Digital spread spectrum which scrambled the signal.
Now days the phones are located in the 2.4 and 5.8 ghz
spectrum and Scanners won't scan that high. Even if you could,
    the signal would be scrambled.

Sorry to bring the bad news.......
That's exactly what I said above.

I remember when the phones came out with speach inversion. I had a program where I could run the audio into the computer and adjust it to where the voice was almost perfectly clear. I can't tell on the board some of the things that I used to do when I listened.

EX: without detail there was the lady down stairs having phone sex with her bf. I knew what apartment she was in and banged on her bedroom window while she was right in the middle of it. You should have heard what she said on that phone. It was so funny.

    LOL ......
Yeah, I was just shooting some more detail out for our
    Question asker.

Yeah, I remember some of the things I use to hear as well.
One of the conversations I'll never forget is when two of my
neighbors we're having an affair. The guy would call her
and say the coast is clear and the lady would run across
several backyards to get to his house and enter in through
the back door. I looked out my window and saw her run through
    my yard. :P

haha ha..I can get with this as much as yall can..I did listen myself up to about a year ago till phones went to 5.8-2.4 gigs.
I had alot fo fun with phone easedropping in the 900 band..I would go to my cuzns house and pick up tons of 900 cordless convos...

I can relate to the cell phone thing as well, basicaly all the cell phones went away about 6 months back, very seldon do i get anyhting in that band...
One time i was in analog mode on my cell phone and picked up my own cell, thing was you could only hear one half of the convo while listening to 892 894 range..
    Good times though...
I do have a scanner that goes up to 3 gig, just never had the patience to try and tune in a phone...
    jays right, its illegal

    Cordless phones are easily scannable.

There are lots of the older 46Mhz phones out there.

900Mhz analog phones are still for sale as well. They never stopped manufacturing them.

Check out this model on the Radioshack.com webpage: Model: ET-3577 | Catalog #: 43-3577

Look at the specifications and you'll notice it's an analog 900Mhz phone.

I picked up a door crasher special a couple of years ago for $10 and it turned out to be a 900Mhz analog phone.

Seek and yee shall find all sorts of conversations.

Of course, if it's illegal where you are, then you have been warned.
