Does anyone know how to program these things via computer software
    software?

I'm trying to scan cordless phone frequencies and cannot figure out how to program this thing. Any pointers welcome!!

If it's a new model I believe you can program your scanner on Radio Shacks website.

They won't have phone frequencies though. That you may have to root around the net for those.

    Default Nope Tried That

RS sells a cable but no programming software.

The manual REALLY sucks. but the 2055 INCLUDES all cordless frequencies. No issue there. I just can't figure out how to work the darn thing!

You can do this scan w/o software but I sure can't figure it out!.

My Pro 89 is supposedly programmable but it doesn't work. I think the build quality is uneven on RS products. I noticed a few weeks ago it stopped scanning on banks 3 and 4.

Try making a trip down the radio shack. They're always helpful when I have a question. Jason the kid down at my store went out of his way to find a scanner antenna that would work on the Corvette without drilling any holes in it.

Scanning Cordless phones is illegal. What are you thinking?

Anyway they used to be in the 46mhz area. Then they went to 900mhz. Well now most of the cordless phones are digital and in the 2.4ghz range and most scanners don't scan that high.

You can program in a search range and scan that way. You can get the software online. Example: Pro-97 I would use the software I think called win97. Do a search on your model and see what it comes up with. Having a programming cable is awesome when used witht the software. It makes it so much easier to program.

Sorry to say but you can't scan cordless phones any longer.
Back in the day pre 1998 you could scan the 46. and 49.
Mhz bands. Then in 98 phones went 900 mhz which some freqs
in this range could be scanned and listened to. After this
the industry started getting complaints about privacy issues
because of News agency's reporting on how your average
store bought scanner could be used to eavesdrop on peoples
conversation. Phone manufactures then came out with
900mhz Digital spread spectrum which scrambled the signal.
Now days the phones are located in the 2.4 and 5.8 ghz
spectrum and Scanners won't scan that high. Even if you could,
    the signal would be scrambled.

Sorry to bring the bad news.......
