    Default Radio shack...Pro 82/Pro 84

Are these units (99.99) worth it at all? I live in a mostly analog area anyways, do you think either of these would be a decent entry level scanner?

Can I program either with a computer? What would I need to do so? Do either of them show alpha tags?

Depends on where you live? What city/state are you in? I bought an analog tripple trunking scanner that proved useless as my city only uses one frequency on a repeater :/ so I sent it back and bought a pro-82 on ebay for around 50...still waiting for it

I think they would be a good start. Just be aware someday everyone will probably be encrypted so scanners in general will be obsolete.
