Default A new twist on the antenna question

I've noticed that the days of identifying an unmarked LEO by the big whip antenna are gone. For that matter, I haven't seen a whip on any cruiser in a long time. So what kind of antenna do they use that functions but keeps a low profile?

This is true, most big cities use 800MHz trunked systems and have tiny 1/4 wave antennas, but the locals in rural areas still tend to have whips to monitor Ch9 for emergencies. Also, these same agencies are generally on VHF conventional and have significantly large whip type antennas. I guess it all depends on where you are driving.
