Plenty of systems have yet to even go trunked.....NYPD isn't even trunked

My bc246t is a great scanner cause i never drive through area with digital systems....NJ is the only area where i do alot of driving and it's trunked

Go analog until you can truly justify going digital

look up the surronding cities etc and see if they are using digital. Do research to see if they are planning on it in the near future. Another thing, the 800Mhz us about to be obsolete. FCC is rebanding them to the 700Mhz range, thus, making nearly most of the scanners useless unless that model can be reflashed etc.

Out of the 2, if you have the money spend it on the digital. I am considering the 394T, after I figure out if it can handle the 700Mhz.

APCO 25 is better than having ProVoice.

    APCO is easier to decode

APCO 25 Is a digital trunking system and you can listen to it with a digital scanner but Provoice cant be listened to.

According to this: http://www.radioreference.com/module...e=RR&ctid=2623 You do not need a digital scanner
