I've been reading up online, and all sources say to place the SWR meter between your CB radio and the antenna. Most of the time, they add a new short coaxial jumper cable between the SWR and CB Radio.
Does that affect the total length of the effective coaxial cable? Does the length of the jumper cable change anything? Or is the SWR meter supposed to take the place of the CB radio?
My setup is slightly different. I have 15 feet of coax, and an additional 2 feet coaxial extension, for a total of 17feet. If I were to place my SWR meter in place of the connector, does that mean I'm effectively testing 15 feet instead of the original 17 feet?
Perhaps a schematic would explain it better.
Would the last method (at the very bottom) be suitable? Does it make a practical difference? Also, would it theoretically make a difference? I've no idea how SWRs work. My physics is rusty.
