I currently have a Little Wil plopped on roof of a midsize sedan equidistant from the sunroof and the rear window. It works, I can hear, I can be heard, and the SWR is 1.6 on the ends of the band and 1.1 in the middle.
You'd think I'd be happy with that, but I feel like I'm missing out knowing there are more "serious" antennas out there. Specifically, I'm thinking of the Wilson 1000 magnet mount or a MLB2700 on a magnet mount. What sort of increase in performance should I expect from those antennas? Are there any other options for a base loaded magnet mount worth considering?
And yes, I prefer a magnet mount. As much as everyone whines about paint scratching, that's a hell of a lot easier to fix than a hole in the roof. Maybe if I get an antenna that works with different mounts like the MLB2700 I'll drill the hole...someday...but not now.
