    Default Antenna position question

    My telescoping FM antenna on the corner of my trunk broke off years ago, so I thought that would be a good spot to install a CB antenna, to look almost completely inconspicuous. Good idea? Can I expect to lose much range compared to a centered spot on my roof?

    As long as it's a CB antenna and there's a decent ground plane you should have acceptable performance.

    Agreed. While there will almost always be better performance with greater height, the difference is often negligible. Radiation pattern will be more affected than anything. And you gain a big advantage by having your antenna hole-mounted.

    There will be some loss (less area for a ground plane) but should still work very well.
