Default Trunk lip mount that will support 102in antenna?

I'm thinking of getting one of the radioshack 102in cb antennas. Is there a trunk lip mount that will support one of them? I can only found mounts rated for 3ft antennas.

Not a lip mount. They require a SIGNIFICANTLY strong, stable mount, like a drilled ball-mount or bumper strap mount. There are really no good ways or reasons to run a 102 on a car, unless you're going to drill it permanently.

    Ditto.
My lip mount will only handle 36".

Mine Wilson 5000 is just one unit and works great.

Don't be a wuss, just drill....or get someone to do it for you.

Forget about the 102. Get a Wilson 1000,5000, or a Maxrad 2700 if you want a nice antenna.

I just went from a 2700 to a Lil Will and don't feel like I'm missing out on much... You'll get about 99.9% of your info from truckers and most of them are running power anyway so you'll pick up their traffic without a monster antenna.

there is no rivet or self tapping screw that I know of that could hold a 102. why would you want such a large antenna? a 102 on a car that would have to be mounted somewhere near your bumper probably would not get as good of reception as a wilson on your roof.

I was just looking at the 102 because it was cheap, $20 compared to $60 for a wilson. I'll probably just weld together a trailer hitch mount for it... Would prefer to mount it a bit higher if possible tho.

i saw a camaro a few months ago and he has a bracket welded off his bumper holding his 102 on, a trailer hitch receiver sounds like a good idea. be sure to post pics with the finished product

    Can't argue with that logic!

You'd very quickly get tired of it and pull it off, though. Seriously. It's ugly and bangs on everything you drive under. And having to mount it on your bumper screws with your radiation pattern.

Ideally, a 102 hole mounted on your roof is the best possible choice. But damn few people will actually put up with that ugliness.

Nagoya markets some....don't recall the part nos.

    Astatic AST-TMK..... $30 most stores
Recommended for up to 56" antenna but I run a 102" steel whip with no problems.

    Diamond K400-3/8C.... $75-$80 most stores
Heavy Duty and recommended for whatever you want to mount on it.

Using either, I recommend that you position the mount on the trunk's side lip. Mine's mounted vertically on the side of my rear door.
