I was looking at stuff yesterday for getting a PA horn for my CB and found an inline amplifier for the PA speaker. It's made by workman (their name for it is Loud Mouth) so I would assume it's decent quality and won't just let all its magic smoke escape the first chance it gets, but I couldn't find any reviews or specs on it for what speaker to use it with.
My Uniden PC68elite has the PA output for 4 watt 8 ohm speakers.
The PA horns I've found on rightchannelradio.com and ebay all tend to be 10 watt speakers.
I can't find enough information about the Loud Mouth amp to know if the 10 watt speakers is enough or if I should find a 15 watt speaker I spotted once. The only information I found about the amplification was increase in dB, no mention anywhere of the wattage output of the Loud Mouth. I don't want to spend the money for it to not do anything and I also don't want to blow a speaker and have to spend more money there...
Here's the page I found with the only real information about it: "TRY THIS! YOU WILL LOVE THE WAY IT WORKS! 12V FREQUENCY RESPONSE: 100Hz-5Hz, LOAD IMPEDANCE: 8 OHMS, VOLT GAIN: 12-14 dB, CURRENT GAIN: 9.5 dB POWER GAIN: 10.8-11dB. AMPLIFIES YOUR EXTERNAL SPEAKERS. MAKE EM' LOUDER AND CLEARER WITH THIS LITTLE BEAUTY." (courtesy hyelectronics)
If anyone with more knowledge of speakers and amps than me can contribute anything I would greatly appreciate it
Thanks in advance
