Default Scanner antenna question (Ga. State Patrol)

    Here's the freqs:
State Patrol Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Looks like my antenna should cover everything except the "Lo-band" which is 42.

I was thinking about running a low band NMO lip mount and feeding both antennas to the scanner. I know you have a gain loss through connectors but would this work?

There is a lot of traffic on the PAC-RT but I'm not sure which freq. I'm still running the rubber duck so I can't hear most of the traffic.

It will work but you've got to be very careful how you do it.

May want to grab the 164, and play with the scanner and CB antennas and see how those two play before investing in a third antenna and also see how well the bmaxscan1000 handles that frequency, it's a little larger than 1/4 wave so it might do just good enough. It's just that one channel you're looking to listen to right?

Boy that gets hairy in a hurry

I guess I'd be better off just running 2 scanners. One dedicated to 150's/800's and one dedicated to lo band with separate antennas.

I have a conventional non-trunking scanner that would be good for lo band.

    Any thoughts?

Yea, the BMAX is supposed to handle everything fine except for the 42.02000 statewide lo band. I'll see how the BMAX does with it before trying anything.

That 42 mhz is awful close to CB isn't it? I have NMO mounts so I may just swap my 2700 over to the scanner and try it.

I have read on the radioreference forums that the 42MHz "lo-band" frequencies are no longer used by GSP.

Thanks! That's good news! I've been traveling with my 107 and get a lot of PAC RT traffic that I can't hear. I'm still using the rubber duck so I just get garbled static. There is a feature that you can turn on that shows the freq. but I haven't done it yet.

I'll know more when I get my mobile antenna in.

Even if they are on lo band, the BMAX will probably do fine, since I'm pretty sure it would be a very robust transmitter system just about everywhere.
