Default starting to look into CB's

whats a good CB to get? or a good site to view some good alternatives? i'd like to get one for my next road trip which will probably be in summer. i dont commute or drive long distances on the highway so it wouldn't be of much use to me on a daily basis

They are near Toronto, prices are in C$, for you is good to see what's on the market these days, you will find all CB radios and CB antennas and many other interesting things... take a look at that Midland 75-822 handheld CB radio, it's like a cell phone, with a good CBantenna I think it's a pretty good investment... regardless, my advice is to go in person to a specialized store and see with your own eyes stuff that you are interesting in and only after you're happy with a product BUY IT, many times pictures on websites are misleading... best of luck

is there a certian channel that all the truckers use to alert others of LEOs? or do different truckers use different channels and you just have to search for the right one?

Ask the shop of radio operatoring doing it, I don't know exactly how it's done on the radio but i know on the antenna it involves a SWR meter....Most radio's are tuned and peaked for channel 20 if they are a 40 channel CB since that is middle ground so they are pretty much tuned to 19 only slightly changed....I haven't notice a difference in my radio since i tuned it to 19 but with an oldschool SWR meter my antenna got tuned to channel 19 due to adusting the lengthof the whip antenna...I bet your radio friend would have an SWR-meter it's very important in tuning antennas. they are available at Radio shack...Or you can fince a local radio shop and they will tune the antenna

Generally the main truck station is 19 but there are conversations that go on in the other frequencies....In 19 is where my radio stays 99.9% of the time

if you want to get the radio to do more power then take it to a trsutworhty
cb shop and ask for a peak and tune price is around $10 to $25 cash. on the antenna part dont worry to much about the swr readings the wilson 1000s they are all ready pre set they are around put flat like 1.1 to 1.3 swr reading. channel 19 is the channel u want to hear and talk on
