Default Adding Talkback to a Uniden 510

6 and L5 are AM power / D-14 is mod limiter . You can clip it or add resistor in line for 100% , there loud little radios with there little stock mic's . Talkback , should be able to take 100 ohm or lower resistor ,solder from receive pin (4) on the mic jack to board ground , this should give you talkback , the lower the resistor ,the louder it will be. ...........Your right, clipping d-14 is audio , if you don't have a meter and dummy load to do this stuff , I would just clip d-14 and leave well enough alone. D-14 will make the radio louder and the pep swing will be automatic after that. If you have a meter and you can tell what the power is ? Take it up and back it off a bit from there. Theres' no need to bore it out. Those are good RX/TX little radios . if your not sure ? just clip D-14 and be done with it.
Where/What is Board Ground?? Is that any part of the radio's case? I've not opened up a CB radio before and was wondering if I could get any pictorial advice. Best I found was a PDF of the circuit diagram.

I think on youtube there's a tutorial, but for the 520. I think he stated the two units are almost the same. Check it out

You can also add a cheap external speaker with talkback for about $10. If going the route you've posted I'd look around the web for a service manual with a schematic and find what's marked as grounded just to be safe, research is usually free the radio is not.

    But that's for a Uniden 520. The Uniden 510 doesn't have an PA-Jack.

My theory is that the Microphone-Input is electrically equivalent to the PA-outlet. I was wondering if anyone here knew what "board ground" was.

Sorry about that. It's just easier to add TB to a unit with a PA.

I had done the TB and echo board on a radio and just went back with a stock 520. I found that I really didn't need a bunch of extra knobs...
