NMO rocks!
I only have the CB in the truck for interstate trips, can't stand the darn thing. But, with having an NMO front fender mount, I can swap my CB antenna with a second 2meter antenna easily for APRS and what not
I have a Tahoe, and my main 2m/70cm antenna is on an NMO mag on the roof. I had considered drilling up there, but a minor "accident" over the weekend has made me reconsider. My Diamond VHF/UHF antenna is much more rigid than the C27 lo-bander. It will still stick straight up at highway speeds. Well, I went hunting and hit a low tree branch in the woods and knocked the mag over. What if I wouldn't have had a mag?? I would have either seriously damaged my $80 antenna, or worse yet, pulled the NMO mount through my roof. I'll stick with the mag up there...
I don't know about your Blazer, but I know for my Tahoe, you can buy a fender mount, which all you do is take one of the bolts out of the fender brace, put this over the hole and re-bolt. No drilling necessary, and you also have a good ground. Put the NMO mount in and you're ready to go!! You might want to check if they make a fender mount specially designed for your model year Blazer.
