As with all mobile radios, the power should be ran directly from the battery.
The battery acts like a filter, it smooths out the AC current from the alternator and gives you a true DC current to your radio.
You could also use a Brute Force Capacitor -- usually found in most stereo shops, CB radio shops, etc...

Most everything in newer vehicles is pulse width modulated.
The Alternator, the fuel injection, even the transmission and fuel pump.
    Lot's of sources for noise.

GOOD IDEA. IGN CONTROLLED RELAY THROWING +12V DIRECTLY FROM BATT TO RADIO AND GROUND RADIO DIRECTLY TO BATT NEGATIVE. I GO DO THAT.

You will want to put two fuses, one on the positive wire, one on the negative wire - about 12 inches from the battery.
That way if the wire chafes or shorts out, you will not catch the vehicle on fire.
Drill a hole in the firewall and use a rubber grommet.
Do not run it between the door and the door frame or next to something else already protruding through the firewall.

I pick-up a noise filter (Legacy Silencer Series LN-70) 10 amp noise filter for a scanner and a CB (maybe an electronic store?). It is a small plastic looking rectangle with wires out of it and it helped the loud cracking noise some...
