CB earpiece?
So in using a CB we all know sometimes the talk can get kind of vulgar. I think a CB is great to have on the highway, but the wife and kid don't need (or want!) to be subjected to what can be heard on there at times. I actually took one of those cell phone 1 piece earpiece things and plugged it into the speaker jack on the CB and it works. My questions:
Is this the only option? Anyone done anything any different?
Is this safe?
Can this do any damage to the CB unit?
Is this just wierd?
Thanks!

If your CB, like mine, has the capability (the jack) to use an earpiece, of course you're free to use it, same effect, earpiece or speaker, same bear alerts
just make sure before you get off the car to take it off, and you have to do it anytime you use it, unless you keep the CB on your belt like any other cell phone, of course that's not possible with a CB... other choice, while with your kid in the car (as per your wife and no kid at that time in the car, I don't think she's gonna start puking after hearing some bad words over the radio, but very rarely you hear this over the radio, but true, you never know when...), just quickly grab the radio's microphone and tell that driver "hey driver, please watch your language, got no time to explain my x-year old son/daughter seated near me about your vocabulary, thank you for understanding!", and 99.9999% you won't hear anymore cursing at least for that time being...

Same idea, but the wire bothers me. I bought a small bluetooth transmitter that plugs right in and will run about 8 hours before recharging. You can't talk on it, but the audio quality is good, and if you need to talk, just pick up the microphone. The earpiece also works with my cell phone so it serves double duty.

It has been a while since I bought it, but I remember that I got it online. It is a Cardo BTA II. Sorry i don't remeber how much it was. BTW it will work on anything with a 2.5mm headset jack. If the jack is a diferent size, you can get an adaptor at radio shack.
