Hmmm. Somehow I doubt that lady has a clue of what she's talking about. Aren't those on a totally different frequency, and no way a little hand held device is picking up 275 miles away...

While this may be GROSSLY exagerated, it is possible. Most toy walkie-talkies work on 49mhz, but some do work on 27mhz -- both are license free bands. And CB radios can bleed over, especially on cheap toys. And during skip conditions you can use the CB to cross half-way across the nation, even across continents. It seems far fetched story, but still probable.

Yeah, if I remember correctly, don't some of the kids walkie-talkies (at least older ones) operate on channel 14? And the previous poster is right, if the toy was picking up a good skipped transmission, it could have come from anywhere.
