CVR really has been saying this for years: As a matter-of-fact when I was first looking into using CB's (as a countermeasure), he was the one who really swayed me the right way, and things just took off from there for me and using CB's. I tip my hat to him for that.

Going to visit my GF at college (150+Thruway miles) the CB is almost literally a priceless countermeasure...

If I may CVR, (to illustrate a point) post the video you have of the effectiveness of the CB on youtube? I will post it but PM me or post it here if you for any reason do not want this video posted, I will immediately remove it (though I have seen this video linked numerous times through this site).

This video is exactly why (IMO) you need a CB to have a complete list of countermeasures: Here we go -showing just how effective they are on the New York State 'super-slabs' (Interstate-routes).-

I love the last line (though, it does have some language... so keep the volume low in the last 15seconds of the video if sensitive ears are near.)

ALL CREDIT GOES TO CVR(Rob) for this video (I am just posting the link folks):

Also note the V1 was SILENT until after CVR had passed the LEO... that is why in NYS we say they are very selective with their instant-on. With only a detector as a countermeasure, you could very well be... ok, ok I will let CVR's last line of the video take over...

1. Why would you intentionally drive into a radar trap at over 80 mph?
2. What's with the Mexican circus music?

I don't wan't to speak for Rob, and neither of those 2 points, are the point of the video.
See Rob's comments to the video... both topics were discussed there.

Lets not turn this thread off topic, the point of the video is showing the effectiveness of a CB against speed traps.

(Though I do agree I wouldn't have gone out into the fast lane to film.) Either way, he came out ticket free... I just don't want this to go too far off-topic, as the point of the video remains a CB's effectiveness.

I won't even ask how you know. I'll assume you were born with it.

1. I am a bad ass and have alot of trust in my counter measures. Also by the position of his tahoe there was no way he could of been watching north bound. In NY they will give you up to 15 over in most areas

2. Inspector Gadget techo-mix

If there is one thing I know, that is Mexicans!

Were you actually listening to that in the car, or was it dubbed over the video?

I sure did, as surprising as that is to hear. Believe me I know of several that do not. I'm pretty picky about my satellite dishes and CB antenna when it comes to grounding and all of that.

I never thought about CB until I read this thread but I am going to get one for sure now. Is it possible to use a car's radio antenna if you only use it with the CB?

Nah, it's not a very effective antenna for CB use. The antenna has to be the right size for the CB frequency. You pretty much HAVE to have at least a 3 foot whip in order to pick up any useful info. Anything less and you MAY pick up a truck next to you..but that'd be about it.

I've been out of CB'ing since the late 70's but are you referring to both analog AND digital CB's? I cannot believe they haven't progressed beyond the 70's or so in antenna technology, no way I'd put some gaudy 3 foot whip antenna on my ride for any reason, maybe a rental but even then...
