Default Re: Little Wil Licence Plate Mount and Tunning Questions

My Little Uniden (510XL) Got peaked and tune by an awesome guy who owns a business on the thruway truck-stop. On my meter it can swing to 18, on his (he showed me) it swings to ~19/20ish.

Thats about the best you can do period out of such a small CB (the Cobra 19 is very very similar, but most people like the Uniden just a bit more)... for the most part all you get out of a CB that size is ~12/15Watts (even he was pretty-happy that it nearly got 20). Unless you really want to get into the 'hobby' (as stated by StealthStalker) and start talking about 'Import' rigs, and linears, you really wont get to much more TX out there.

What range benefit has I seen on TX? None-really, referring to people on base stations before/after I just push their needle enough to come in a little more 'solid' on a 'noisy' day.

I also normally run that CB with a Wilson 1000 w/extended whip (basically 2x the height of the Little Wil)... so when running that particular set-up my RX with that is helped exponentially. And my TX seems again, not to get out much further, but where it does go, its just a bit better there.

I have picked up non-skipers at well over 25Miles with the Little Wil, and skippers at well over 1,000Miles... not bad RX numbers, its really about 'the planets aligning correctly, and... the power the other person is pushing.
