I think you are talking about the dot matrix on the windshield. First of all the suction cups won't stick to them. I have my V1 mounted there and I personally didn't notice any drop in effectiveness....

^+1. It all depends on your luck and LEO's judgement. I had few encounters got shot w/ laser... I got pulled over and sometimes got so lucky that LEO didn't care to stop me.

I would run V1 in A mode all times. It's alittle chatty in city but you would get used to it. As the time goes on... you will be able to tell when it's a false/real alert.

Turning off Ka guard pretty much turns your V1 into a RDD. So, it'll start detecting other Cobra RDs like crazy.
