Hello fellow drivers,
I pulled one of my older detectors out of the garage this past week, here in Olympia, WA. I have a GX65 Pro, which I originally stowed for out of state trips because without...
Of course, no problem. Loving the TSR right now, which I do switch off when I get away from the drone haven
No worries. I admit my error, especially with the trade in credit of 80 dollars, making the x50 pretty cheap.
Cliff notes: Whistler was returned a few days ago. 8500x50 arrives Tuesday. As I don't think you read all the replies.
I just load the red light database into my Garmin, and leave the rest to the escort. Trapster is pretty lame in my area.
You guys drive so fast up there I get unlimited rabbits : ) (so what is up North?)
Thanks. It's a trend here. A lot of wealthier rural cities here have diesel quad cab trucks with canopies to hide the light systems.
They even get bumper stickers/boat towing accessories to blend...
it's not for revenue.....

As happya$$ also stated, the 8500 is a better unit, and I tried to go the other route and find something that would function with some semblance of TSR style filtering. Didn't work. Escort's quality...
WSP has a new undercover Silverado to match their Chevrolet Malibu. This is a blue 2500HD, I believe based upon the tail pipe, not a duramax. Sorry for the rear shot only, this has a complete work...
I don't know how a radar detector could fail any harder than to alert to a LEO running K band, as X band. Not acceptable.[/QUOTE]
That was my thought. I was like, oh cool, epic fail. Lesson...
There is another complete set of traffic drones from South Tacoma-Ft Lewis-Olympia, which I run through. I've been trying to live with it for 2 years, but it makes me ignore LEOs as well.
I am extremely grateful for your customer care and dedication, however I pulled the trigger already on a return with Amazon and purchase with Escort. Sorry! I have no doubt Whistler will fill a niche...
Well to report back, I gave the Whistler a very thorough "day in the life" of my drive test and it failed pretty horribly. I was able to run it through my traffic drone region and a very handy WSP...
Just got the Whistler installed, out for test drive now through traffic drone hell.
Thank you, I'm hoping for that to be the case. It would be more important for laser countermeasures here anyways, if I want to drop some serious coin.
I'm aware, just trying something else out. If it goes badly for any reason, I'll trade in my 8500 refurb for a new 8500x50.
Thanks for the advice. I plan on running those settings, and I'll see what falses persist. I know each drone location really well by now, since I make an 67 mile run each week, Olympia to Seattle and...

I'm sure I'd be better served by a 9500IX, I have no qualms in admitting that my budget prevents me from having the best detector for my area. I would just rather spend 500 dollars on...
Just placed an order for a new Whistler, after reading carefully through here as always. I have been well served by my 8500 Refurb, after having to send it back in the first week of ownership. But...
My Refurb is over a year old now and still sharp as the day I got it back from warranty service, 2 weeks after purchase. No regrets though. Sounds like the OP bought his from another source though.
strange. My 3 foot firestik top loaded did not mess with my scanner antenna at all. And they were closer than yours. I did have to turn off close call options of course, but I wonder what is causing...
