I've lived in the South (Florida, Georgia, Texas, & North Carolina) and Southwest (Arizona) and had Escort Detectors most of that time. I've never had an issue with an Escort Detector being damaged...
I think that in order for this service to succeed that they need to:
- include the Live! cord with all new detectors
- allow current users to upgrade to a Live! cord (Direct or Cigarette Lighter)...
I was initially excited about Escort Live! but after many delays and some thinking.. I'll just keep my 9500xi and the old non-Live direct wire connection and just update the detector periodically.
...
Either one is a good call.
You no longer deal with:
- your detector chattering away on your windshield as you drive
- it sagging
- it falling off
- if you do it right it all becomes...
A good alternative for charging your phone while it's docked is the XM SkyDock. You don't have to subscribe to XM.
- It'll keep your iPhone in a position for GPS, etc.
- It'll allow you to listen...
I've had red and blue in the past and I'd say it really comes down to your personal preference.
Having both, I'd probably opt for the one that matches my dash lights (warm colors go with red; cool...
Do you have a link? I poked around but couldn't find it.
Chatted online with a representative. Here's the link:

The representative was...
He pegged me around a curve at 2AM where the limit when from 55MPH to 35MPH (obvious speed trap). He was off the side of the road, no lights, I got the alert and slammed on my brakes. He figured it...
I disagree with the Blendmount thieves comment. Your eye is normally taken by the item suctioned to the windshield as it's the closest thing to the windshield because it's literally suctioned to it....
I'm still impatiently awaiting the Mac version. It's stupid that they don't have one.
This isn't a 'mapping the known universe' problem. This is: Let's read some structures from the USB port....
Is the subscription -really- tied to the cord or is it tied to just my account / possibly radar detector?
The reason I ask is that if I have a subscription for Escort Live! and have a Direct Wire...
I think it depends on the type of person you are.
If you want to be alerted of everything all the time everywhere you go: Redline
If you find that with more alerts you tend to tune them out and...
Just looking for a head's up of when we can pre-order the direct/hard wire for our vehicles for Escort Live!
I know it's, "Sometime after the first of the year." I was hoping for something like,...
Depending on where the rattle is:
If it's up against the windshield you can get little rubber or felt pieces and stuck them to either the windshield of the detector where the contact points are.

I use a Blendmount to mount it right to the rear view mirror. It keeps it nice and tidy.
I did have a slight bit of rattling/vibration from it and I just covered one side of the insert piece with...
I agree. I don't think you need that many users with it for it to be useful. I don't need an Live-equiped unit passing a cop on a major road every minute. I just need one slightly ahead of me giving...
The biggest problem with CB radio is the noise. For every one cop hit you receive you get hours of static and mindless chatter (mostly truckers hating 4 wheelers cutting them off and 4-wheelers...
I would have been OK with a straight cord but I really don't care for the coiled cords. They end up pulling on the detector and generally end up getting in the way.
I hope that the direct-wire...
Just canceled my order. I'm not a fan of the coiled cords. I can see why some like them but it just means more stuff floating around for me.
I'll wait until the direct-wire cord is released and...
So when does this ship? I see it says 'November' on Escort's site. Are we talking Nov 1st or almost (maybe even) December?
This is awesome and makes total sense. Why should I have to update the DB in my 9500xi when there's a connection to my phone and it can do it for me. No more XP in VM for me!
That's what I was thinking. You don't need every Escort user to have this device. You just need a small percentage in a metropolitan area. You just need that occasional hit to let you know...
There's a post above from EscortRadar stating that it should be out after the 1st of the year.
I think the idea is:
- Many (most, perhaps) folks have an iPhone or an Android phone already.
- You mount your phone on your dash somewhere (XM SkyDock is great for the iPhone btw)
- You glance...
I get SPDTRAP alerts fairly regularly. These are ones I haven't marked. I sort of assumed you were taking the ones I've marked and when I update my detector to the latest Defender DB that you took my...
