I bought a used 3.813 that wasn't working properly.

Sent it in to V1 with the request to tune and upgrade the unit to the latest spec.

When I got it back, I was surprised it was...

The knob has changed over the years too.

On the older units there was a white line on the knob.

Newer units have the line, but it's raised plastic and not painted.

I drove the Viper to work today, which is equipped with one of my new 3.864's.

I've been using the Volvo lately with the 3.871.

Well, I INSTANTLY noticed a difference when passing a familiar...

The 3.871 on my trip did not exhibit that behavior. The signs on the I-15 were K and my unit did NOT ghost on any of them (we passed a total of 4+ K speed signs)

Where are you located?

First reset the device to factory defaults and just use it for a while to see if X band is a problem where you live.

I would turn POP off too unless...

Looks like they are blowing out the old stock of existing devices.

No sense in taking apart the existing brand new 3.864's to replace with 3.871's.

My 3.813 upgrade wasn't a replacement like...

I threw it up on Ebay for $450 to start and $650 buy it now. :eek:

For the record 3.871 did NOT ghost on any K band speed signs on the open road, Front antenna or Rear

Ok, then 3.871 behaves this way too.

Looks like ghosting on K is still a problem.

No J's but in shopping centers (when we took breaks) I was picking up 3 to 5 K band signals.

Coming back today there were less than 5 actual LEO encounters that I detected on I-15 in...

It was 105+ in Vegas and the Hoover dam this weekend and my V1 never missed a beat on the windshield trip out to Vegas or back from Los Angeles.

Some 3.864's and a 3.871

My wife and I took a trip out to Las Vegas from the San Fernando Valley and back and we took my recently repaired/upgraded 3.871...

I haven't really been able to discern any extremely noticeable differences between 3.864 and 3.871.

I drop beaucoup bucks on a couple of brand new ones, and the used unit I send in to get updated comes back with newer guts!
