Escort 8500 X50 Black still like it in 2017, don't know how well it would do against low power K and Ka radar? Impressed with the test results of Uniden R1 and R3 and decided to purchase Uniden R3.
Yes you need a licence unless Part 15 compliant.
Yes part 90 unless it's Part 15 compliant, FCC not going to issue you Part 90 unless you can prove you need it for an approve job or operation.
My older Escort 8500 has better Ka range then my Escort 8500 X50.
Old tread but still decent radar detectors ten years later, have a hot 995 out performs my Bel RX65 most of the time on Ka. Beltronics Vector 999 is an Escort X50 in drag.
Also recommend POP on with POP off there is a possibility of missing K band quick trigger and possible Ka. Why take the chance?
I get better response time with POP on and have Ka guard off. Certain cruise control can set off the V1 laser warning, glad you like it.
Have encounter K band Q/T in my town and in Billerica, Mass. in the past. But with POP on the V1 detects it.
My original V1 purchased in 1999 still works and have never sent to be updated or for a tune up.
POP off slows the reaction time, the V1 wouldn't detect quick trigger radar with it off. Tested my recent tuned V1 with firmware against my Kustom HR-12 K band hand held with POP off/on 10 out of 10...
Firmware updated as well. Want V1 owners to beware of this. POP off is causing the slowing of reaction time on the V1.
Got a tune up less then 6 months ago. Not a tune up issue. POP off slows down the reaction time of the Valentine. Purchased in 2008.
Your welcome, since X band isn't used where I live, turning off really helps. Rather deal with an occasional false POP then to be unprotected. Local police were pulling people over for speeding and...
After plugging in my V1 wanted to see how it would react to quick trigger with POP off and on, using my Kustom HR-12 K band hand held. With POP off V1 failed to alert to the quick trigger all 10...
[QUOTE=Cips;856804]Hey fellow V1 users. I finally came to the conclusion that the V1 may not see many more days as the top dog, and in the future I may have to move on to a different RD.
I was...
Think Escort customer service is bad you should talk to Mike Valentine wife at Valentine, she's a real winner. Enjoy your purchase.
If you care about getting the maximum warning time under most conditions for Ka the Cobra won't cut it. Have had experience were the cop was at a slight angle with front constant on Ka running and...
The difference Between the $99 Cobra and $300 and up units are more sensitivity and have better Ka software. When police are using instant on you want to detect it as soon as possible, but if you...
What's better then the Cobra the entire Beltronics and Escort Lines, Valentine One. Although it has decent X and K band range, it's Ka range needs improvement.
Never heard of this happening, have been using one since 1999. Could just be a coincidence, but if you have a problem with your V1 send it back to be service with a note telling them what happen....
Far as I know they give a new serial number or swap it out for a new one?
If the deal sounds too good to be true, more then likely it is. Sorry to hear you got ripped off, there are some scum bags selling on eBay. Generally a lot of them have less then perfect feedback....
Ones preferences there isn't really a right answer, all are fairly close in performance. Only differences have noticed is reliability have sent numerous Belscorts for repair over the years and never...
