That is the problem..Those are the ones that are cheap, and at alot of stores. People buy them assuming they are just as good, just not the name brand Bel(if they even know there is a brand name).

You have probably just lucked out and not met any LEOs. I know when I got my STi I was hoping to run into a few to test out my STi and figure out what kind of speeds, etc you can handle with it. ...
It was smart of you too keep on X band in NS and NB. I have seen an RCMP car with X band...
Ka is sometimes a pain!!! Not too much of an alert. 130 was a good choice of speed! I have been...
It was the mobile phone system that is used in europe and asia, CDMA and TDMA was developed in Mexico, Canada and the USA.
GSM is better at data transfer than *DMA's.
It runs on a different...
I have a silver SUV. I have Veil, and the black front end cover. I have never been shot with laser, and it isn't too common in my area, but I feel somewhat protected...I may have a false sense of...
nice setup...Where is the rear view mirror in the pic?
That is probably why I get the occaisonal Ka Blimp on the STi....People buying the Cobras from ebay. RD are not too common in the area, so it wouldn't surprise me if people ordered them off there.
I have had a very close call with Ka detection. It was constant on though, and it was coming around a curve. I am not sure if I slowed down in time, or if the LEO clocked my rabbit who was doing at...
I would second everyone that said to take the Cobra back. I had the PNI Silver Bullet, and it is rated better than the Cobras...and that detector I would not even put in the same league as my STi,...
A4M9
Bought from Roy!
Thanks for the input. I will try to disable the SWS and see if that makes a difference.
I have had this rd for a few months, I meant it was falsing in new places where it never did before..I...
Your best bet would be buy the best Bel detector that you can afford. If you go really cheap on it, you may end up wanting to upgrade and then you will end up spending even more...
I went cheap...
I was having a lot of X band falses in places that I normally wouldn't......and also a few K band and one Ka band... They were all in the city though, so it could have been Leos on another street...
Under the worst situations even the best radar detectors can give little to no warning on Ka.
I agree with that...I was almost caught going around a very very sharp curve. I think I...
They are illegal in all of the maritime provinces....So he made it through Ontario and Quebec. It was definately an x50....
I voted for the Escort....I had a PNI silver Bullet and that sucked compared to the STi.....And from what I have heard the Cobras are worse.
I would go with the Escort!
I was stopped in a line of traffic yesterday, and I look to my left and I see a Honda Civic with Ontario Plates that had either an Escort 8500 or an x50 right in the middle of their windsheild with...
I have found with my STi that I get amazing K band range as well.
I ran into a LEO running X band, and that range was exceptional as well.
With Ka Band I had a very close encounter...
U get what u pay for!!!!
It is true that you get what you pay for. In the case of the STI you are paying for the stealth. I had a cheap PNI before, and I worried about being caught by a...
X is always off, for a long time no more X radar units in use by my local police forces... and soon all K radar units will be replaced with brand-new Ka ones, if that will happen, and the sooner the...
The STi is a great detector, but unless you need stealth go with the x50 or the RX65
I would save that $100, and save up and buy a bel 995 or x50..
I went cheap my first time around and got a PNI silver Bullet for around $100, and I was not impressed with the performance.
I now...
I had Aquapel (similiar to Rain X) applied to my windsheild when I had my tint strip put on, and it made a huge difference in the rain! I have found no change in the range on the RD...if anything it...
This may be a silly question, but if it scans KA wideband, wouldn't it detect something smaller? I have the STi, and I am pretty sure it is wideband....so does that mean it doesn't detect narrow...
It will still work on the headlights, but your car is light in colour, so the lidar can still reflect off of it. I have a silver vehicle, and I ordered a front end cover to make it less reflective...
