i'll move it to the centre of the roof and try again. the luggage carrier is in the way so thats a problem. suv roofs have ridges for teh carriers so they arent smooth like a car trunk unfortunately....

im thinking of getting a cb for channel 19...which do i get thats cheap and wont interfere with my sti or fm transmitter ?...

looks that way according to the bel note enclosed in the box. it works ok now .. 0.8 miles tested with Ka cop car this morning.
autoscan seems to be ok. picked up X/K band no problem.

doubt an sti would do better than a v1. the main feature of the sti is stealth and not range.

i sent it back because a firmware bug caused the voice and other prompts to become garbled and locked up the unit. hard reset didnt help. the speaker imho was fine. it seemed to be the speaker...

or it could be a variant of the same problem i ran into. might be a bug in the no doubt hastily released with bels usual QC firmware.
ive returned mine to bel.
