You don't have to go that far. There's not much of a difference in performance if it's off by half a degree.
I mount mine left of my RVM and it is perhaps at a 2-3 degree tilt on the roll axis...
I get the same thing occasionally with my 3.858. Full blast K-band as I pass the LEO mixed with a blip of Ka.
I'm going to make a guess that the person you bought it from did the same thing I did. Traded his XTR690 in for the PRO78 and had them swap the sticker as well.
My pro78 has an xtr690 sticker and serial number. That is because I sent my xtr690 back to Michael B to swap for a pro78. To keep track of service and warranty, he transferred the sticker as well.
You might have gotten a unit that someone had swapped for a xtr690.
You don't even need to call them. Just send the unit in with a short paragraph describing your problem. They'll call you if they need your CC (they did for mine, but I was not the original owner).
I've heard that it was usually due to aging or failing capacitors. Correct me if I am wrong please. My V1 was the same version as yours. I received E's once a week and decided to send it in. They...
55 in a 35
60 in a 40
65 in a 50
90 in a 70.
I usually try to stay within the 50-60mph range for optimal fuel economy, with the exception of wide open freeways. There are certain areas (Novi,...
They probably would have had to bleep a few parts where you said "f*cking...". You might have won if you kept the swearing down a bit :P
I design turbocharger turbines and I can tell you right now that this is a terrible idea structurally. You will see crack initiation at the weld areas which will very quickly lead to a catastrophic...
I have 2 V1's (3.858 and 3.863). They both ghost like crazy near my local Walgreens. Don't think that the bogey is perfect all the time.
Are you sure you're not just expecting too much out of the V1? If it's tuned, then it means that it operates within VR's specifications. Since you don't exactly describe specifically why it is you...
I don't want to say that 200 is quite typical..but you can usually find newer v1.8 V1's for around that price on CL. I got mine (1.8 3.858) with all accessories and in pretty much brand new condition...
The arrows are and were never perfect. Be happy with what you've got. Personally, I prefer the later versions with the digital temp compensation board. It should mean a lot less tuneups.
I'll buy it for 35 US DOLLARS!!!
It's hard to find rabbits these days that travel 15+ over.
Stratches won't affect radar sensitivity at all. If you ever take apart the V1, you'll see that the radar portion of the lense is actually completely opaque. Only when it is HEAVILY stratched might...
I mount left of the RVM and use a small suction cup on the left and large suction cup on the right to offset the curvature of the windshield.
Actually, mounting it as far as you can to the left makes the most sense. Since most of us drive on the right side of the road, mounting it as far as you can on the left puts the detector as close as...
Just eyeball it. It doesn't make that big of a difference.
If you shot and killed a guy trying to break into your car, under what circumstances would you NOT be prosecuted for murder? In the case of someone breaking into your house, I recall that you could...
I've seen v1.8 V1's go for 150 on CL. I personally got my 3.856 for 200.
I never said that. My point was to say that you can't judge pure performance just by how many reports of 3+ mile encounters pop up for either RD.
How do you know? Even if you took a large...
War is amazing if you are the winning side. It creates more jobs in the defense sector, raises nationalism and unity, drives new inventions and technologies, and helps with population control. But...
