I've found the off-axis Ka performance of BEL 940/960s (old models) to be spectacular.
My wife had an X-50 in its carrying case in carry-on and had to open bag and show RD. Otherwise, no problem.
In NJ: Troopers use X (K-55), Ka, and laser. Locals use X, K, Ka, and (less frequently) laser. All pace when given the opportunity. Don't know if VASCAR is still used on the GSP.

....with the mega successful Passport selling millions of units a year.
Without a doubt the finest RD ever made. Small, sensitive and bulletproof. Much better than RD9XL, contrary to C&D's...
but I would assume that this little detour is also somewhat dampening electrical noise which may otherwise be present in my setup. To-note, though, the ZR3 sources its power from the same circuit...
A 7500S that mercilessly false-alarmed on laser did not have the soldered screen on the front of the diode assembly seen on other Escort RDs. The modification may involve installing same screen, thus...
Then they should pity us fools who spend $360-$400 for a V1 :)
I leave POP on. In NJ, I'll get a J about once a month.
Last time I looked, analog temp compensated V1s had a Spectre detection range of ~100 ft. I suspect most V1 users with remote displays just leave them on and most RD detection in VA is via...
Happy New Year, all!
I'm confused.
On a recent RT to Myrtle Beach, I found an increased frequency of J-outs. Upon my return to the Garden State, the frequency is normal again (almost never). This phenomenon leads me...
Something on the dash of the I-30 does the same. I have never been able to determine the source.
And I am still pleased with my 3.825
I haven't had the problems fixed by the 3.826 so I believe variation may be seen within a S/W rev on a common hardware platform.

Uniden RDs had better laser detection than Belscorts. I'd guess yours is better than an RX65 through v6.1
1,2--CITY ALL's single beep until the strength rises behaves like a threat counter. You don't need to look at all. When the signal rises, you get more beeps and a voice ID of the band. I am...
I have POP on, have rarely gotten Js and have had no problems with excessive Ka alerts.
The 5.6 firmware of this vintage seems to suppress Ka falses better than the previous revisions. These statements are my opinions, as I own or have owned tham all.
Thr 940/960/985's in CITY ALL are V1's without arrows: They're very quiet, the single-beep until ~3 bars is like a bogey counter, and they encourage you to EXPAND :)
Until 6.1 made POP useful, there...
985 still commands a good price. 960 and 940 have same sensitivity, same platform, but different firmware. If you don't need POP. these are great. The 960 is the 985 without USA mode, the 940 loses...
The older 940 is better. It's essentially a 985 with fewer firmware features.

I have a 3.825 with POP on and it is much quieter than earlier units.

So the RX-65 I got at RatShack for ~225 last summer had no warranty? I think not.

Relative to the BEL 960, the RX-65 v6.1 has slightly less K-Band range but it absolutely never, never false alarms. Even with POP enabled. I find this an excellent trade-off. I run BEL 940 and 960 in...
Has Infiniti FX adaptive cruise control ever set off an X-50? A V1 maybe, but not others, in my experience.
Bill
Escort uses a Sonalert type audio device and BEL uses a coned speaker for sound. This design difference may influence the implementation of a solid tone.
