It performs better against radar that is not circularly polarized such as photo radar.
I encounter a lot of photo radar in my area. See the difference in detection. Before:...
Which Ka frequency is it using? Run your STi in tech mode in order to find out.

I did show it in my video, it was Ka Band 34.6 Ghz, so probably PR-100 Photo Radar.
Turning off Ka Guard made a huge difference on the V1's sensitivity! I also mounted my Bel STi VERTICALLY close to the dash and wow, what a difference. Problem solved :)

Thanks for the input. I do have POP on; no difference.
In Alberta we don't have front plates. He snaps our rear plate as we pass him; the radar is pointed forward.
These new low powered Ka band trucks are badass. Almost no detection on two instances until after I pass the truck:

If it is true photo radar like the ones we have here in Alberta, a sensitive radar detector will alert you in advance to its presence. I've have both the V1 and Bel STi and they work like a charm....
I have both. Love the V1 over the STi for the arrows alone.
Thanks for the info Botts.

I have both detectors and they are awesome. For your purposes, I'd go with the STi. Losing a V1 to a trooper isn't worth the $400 or the heartache.
The STi has saved me countless times. Here's an...
I run my Beltroncs STi (Spec Mode) and V1 together with no problems. And I've tried running them seperately with the same results. Then again, the STi doesn't leak like the RX65...
I always take it down. Having one in plain sight is asking for your windows to be broken and having your sh*t taken. It's not worth the heartache. Taking it down and AT LEAST hiding it in ur glove...
Dude I know exactly what you mean. I got 5 Ka hits 2 nights ago in less than 3 minutes on video. Having a RD rocks, especially one that will tell you how many bogeys there are:

The sheriff's are lying about exclusively using Ka band. I've had a radar detector for the past 3 years and on the Sherwood Park Freeway I've NEVER seen one with Ka band....
What is used in Alberta? To the best of my knowledge and based on my encounters as follows:
Photo Radar: In Edmonton is exclusively K band (24.1 Ghz) which means its probably Gatso 24, or the...
