Also, turn off auto-mute. Those three together will work for just about any situation short of running a chainsaw inside the vehicle while driving.

I do the same for the same reason; all are hardwired to full-time hot circuits, rather than ignition-switched.
Are there vendors still selling J15? I assume that the forthcoming product announcement from Blinder will then be something like the J17? At any rate, I take it that the J16 is about to become "the...
So, the next/new will be J16?
BTDT. Over the hill, familiar settings, I/O. Not much you can do...
How can we be assured that we're getting the latest?
If we order from you, will we get the latest??? ;)
The results that RadarRoy and GOL have shown with the Blinder are really impressive, especially when you consider the dollar cost.
I bought one of those four years ago and recently came pretty close to replacing it but decided that laser jammers are a far better investment of dollars. The x50 remains a very reliable performer.

I was thinking about buying an Escort ZR3 or ZR4...the ZR3 is really attractive at the current close-out price, but this chart ^^^ just...
Accidental duplicate thread, please disregard
Is this an in-store closeout? The i doesn't show up on the website.
Does the firmware version correlate to the horn version?
If I understand what you're saying correctly, the reason is that laser, unlike radar, is very narrow-beam. There's often little or no scatter. So, the car in front of you might be painted and you'd...
You betcha. Did the RD and GPS hardwire and a RVM upgrade last fall, as well as an R&R on the rear springs and shocks. Jeep spent all winter in the garage. Time for a new project!
We should merge this with Neon's VASCAR thread. This guy's all set in case they ever start using radar from the air. :p
X50, hardwired above RVM. Auto Mute off, Tone LOUD, volume all the way up. Installed in 2005.
Considering seriously adding anti-laser this spring.
FWIW, I have been considering the same and am coming to the conclusion that rather than spend the money on a V1 or 9500ix I'd be better off installing laser countermeasures, given how prevalent laser...

Unbelievably useful post and you're a saint for having the patience to type that all out in such a clear fashion. I'm saving this one to the hard drive with the pdf copy of my manual!
Welcome. With laser and instant-on, or even with other radar used smartly by an LEO, if you aren't driving "smart," your RD will *not* protect you. Learn things like using rabbits and the RD will be...
My first use of a radar detector was the original Escort back in 1985. Interestingly, it took an encounter with an LEO (a ME state trooper) to teach me that radar could be used from a moving...
Thanks. Rob, I would love a chance to follow up off-line on local issues. I'll PM you.
I was thinking about replacing/upgrading my 8500 X50 with a 9500ix, which I figure would cost me around $350 net. I noticed, though, that the ZR3 is for sale at a reduced price now (closeout?). I got...
If there were some basic flaw in Belscort's business model, they'd have gone Tango Uniform again. And the Belscort product line doesn't contain as many variations as some might think. ;)
The instruction vid on the Escort website actually suggests using a USB/mini-USB cord from your camera if you have one - sort of interesting anti-marketing, but quite honest.
